Hi, I am Gina Capone and I was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 25, November 25, 2000. Since my diagnosis I have started my own website www.diabetestalkfest.com that features guest chats with medical professionals in the field of diabetes as well as starting the CGM Anti-Denial Campaign to help get continuous glucose monitors covered under insurance. Most recent project is re-vamping the diabetes oc.

Most of my free time is dedicated to diabetes related projects such as doing graphic/web design work for the diabetes research institute and the JDRF as well as volunteering at special events.

I am on the JDRF roundtable and also have two blogs one is a personal blog at www.diabetestalkfest.com/blog and I am also an expert blogger for Diabetes Central http://www.healthcentral.com/diabetes/c/28524

I was just named tudiabetes crusader of the year 2008 for all of the work I do for the diabetes community at large. Such an awesome acknowledgement!

I have not had diabetes that long but, I try to do as much as I can to raise awareness. I won't stop till there is a cure.
